SI Veils and light weight reinforcements are specifically engineered for Pultrusion applications. Their electrical properties and corrosion resistance characteristics make them ideal for various applications. Veil is used on surface parts for outstanding finishes or in thin profiles. Widths are to customer’s specifications, allowing for less waste and lower manufacturing costs. Binder range percentages may also be specified, giving the designer even greater flexibility.
Typically, Pultrusion Veil, 20 mil is used on the surface, while Pultrusion Veil,1/2 ounce may provide reinforcement in thin profiles. For complex shapes contact the SI Sales Department. See Technical Data Sheets for options.
FEATURES:
SI Veils offer many features for Pultrusion applications.
• Excellent wet-out, • Excellent electrical insulation properties, • Excellent Tensile strength, • Long length rolls, thus reducing number of rolls required and while improving manufacturing efficiency, • Custom specified binder range percentage, • Highly corrosion resistant under acidic conditions, • Contaminant free, making it safe for Pultrusion, • White in color, making it transparent in the finished part, • Excellent punch ability properties (no glass fuzz), and • Glass is easily sanded for smooth part finishing.
OVERVIEW:
The Pultrusion process produces FRP lineal shapes by continuously pulling the fibers thru a resin bath and saturating them before they enter a heated steel forming die. As the saturated reinforcements absorb the die heat, the combination begins to harden into the shape of the die as it exits. Because Pultrusion is a continuous process, the formed part can be cut to any length.
Typical Pultruded parts include structural shapes, window and door lineal shapes, tool handles, hand rails, high voltage fuses, floor grating or any other item requiring a long continuous profile.
