SI Veils and light weight reinforcement mats perform extremely well in GFRG applications. Veil widths are to the customer’s specification, allowing for less waste while lowering manufacturing costs. Binder range percentages may also be specified, giving the designer greater flexibility.
When selecting the correct product, consider the overall desired outcome, either surface enhancement, reinforcement or both.
Most often, 1-2 layers of Pearlveil-110 (Series 100 Binder), 15 Mil are used on the outside surface of the part. See Technical Data Sheet for description and options.
For added part strength, the designer should consider 1-2 layers of Pearlveil-110, ½ ounce layered behind the surface veil..
FEATURES:
SI Veils offer many features for GFRG applications.
• Excellent wet-out, • Widest roll widths within the industry, • Long length rolls, reducing number of rolls required and improving manufacturing efficiency, • Customer specified binder percentage, • Highly corrosion resistant under acidic conditions, • Contaminant free, making it safe for hand layup, • White in color, making it transparent in the finished part, and • Glass is easily sanded for smooth part finishing.
OVERVIEW:
Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum (GFRG) is a composite application utilizing naturally-occurring mineral gypsum combined with glass fibers and may also contain polymers to make the final product stronger. The molding process can be either by hand lay-up or a chopped-strand-spray method.
End products provide a fire retardant building material with a high strength to weight ratio.
Typically, the end product is used for indoor applications with minimal exposure to moisture or other environmental elements. Completed composites are in the form of columns, pillars and facades.
