SI Veils are specifically engineered for Filament Winding applications.Their corrosion resistance properties make them ideal for surface enhancement. Veil widths are to the customer’s specification, allowing for less waste and lower manufacturing costs. Binder range percentages may also be specified, giving the designer greater flexibility.
When selecting the correct product, the designer should consider the overall desired outcome.
Typically, Pearlveil-110 or Curveil-120 in either a 10 Mil or 15 Mil will be used. See Product Data Sheets for options and differences.
Binder is normally Series 100. See Binder Data Sheet for additional information.
FEATURES:
SI Veils offer many features for Filament Winding applications.
• Excellent wet-out, • Excellent corrosion resistance properties,, • Customer specified widths rolls, • Long length rolls, reducing number of rolls required and improving manufacturing efficiency, • Customer specified binder range percentage, • Contaminant free, making it safe for Filament Winding, • White in color, making it transparent in the finished part, • Glass is easily sanded for smooth part finishing.
OVERVIEW:
Filament Winding is the process of winding fiber material and resins around a mandrel, creating a corrosion resistant composite product with a hollow core, such as lengths of pipe, tanks and poles.
Glass veils are often used to insure smooth wall finish or a resin rich surface.
The Filament Winding process can either feed the veils directly onto the mandrel (Dry Process) of thru a resin bath and then onto the mandrel (Wet Process).
